5 Material and Finish Trends for 2025

For 2025 there is a stronger sense of grounding, as consumers seek out opportunities to engage with sustainability on a more tactile and tangible level while seeking an escape from an always-on world.

For material and finish trends, this translates as a focus on circularity and bio-based design leading the way, with a heightened awareness of how purchasing decisions impact climate. Contemporary methods will be reassessed as alternative materials and visible upcycling will gain commercial momentum this year.

For 2025 there’s a focus on recycled and reused metals leading to a new industrial age, where the forms of previous products are celebrated, refined, and reused.  Aluminium’s status as an infinitely recyclable material lends itself to mono materiality, with end of life recyclability factored in. Gaining a new premium status, we see metals and metallics elevated with matte finishes, brushed surfaces and subtle tints, all working to create a softer aesthetic for home and interiors.
